Planning!

This is my second day of really planning for this new big thing in my life.  I'm really excited!  Not gonna lie, I'm kinda nervous.  It's easy to say I won't eat any chocolate or drink any soda or eat any fast food.  Not so easy to resist the temptation.  But I'm giving it my all.  I've tried this before and failed miserably, but I just wasn't serious about it.  I was thinking in the back of my mind, "If I cave, oh well, I can start it up again anytime".   Not the way to go.  This time, I'm doing it.  I really can't wait to start!

My plan is to go grocery shopping on Monday and fill my little Walmart buggy with all kinds of colorful, fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of chicken breast, which my hubby will grill massive amounts of so that I can eat it for my meals during the weeks.  And tuna.  And turkey breast.  And I'm thinking of trying salmon.  Has anyone ever had that?  I'm curious...

Also, since I'm asking questions, who can throw me some good ideas on how to prepare vegetables?  Eating them raw for two weeks straight is just not gonna cut it!  My friend Shawna gave me the idea to sautee them and I can make a pretty good stir fry with lots of veggies.  I'm afraid of steamed vegetables.  The mushy texture is just too much for me!  But I'm going to give it a try again, because there is nothing more boring than eating the same thing every single day for an extended period of time.  Just sayin.  I'm cool with the meat though.  I love chicken.  And I love it grilled and baked, which are the healthiest ways to eat it, so that's exciting for me.

Is anyone going to do this with me?  Or have a plan of your own you'd like to share?  I'd love to hear it!

  1. Leslie, I love steamed veggies. You just have to be careful not to over cook them. You can also grill veggies.

I have eaten salmon. It its very yummy. However I have never cooked it.
We are starting a diet challange at work on Monday as well. I need to make my list of things I need to pick up and get started some kind of plan. I know one thing every one says is you must keep a journal of what you eat. And drinks lots of water.
I have never been very successful on dieting. My as I have gotten older I have developed more health issues that need attention. Ignoring it will not be good.

I know you will do well. I look forward to following you daily.

  3. Thanks Shelly & Kari!

Kari, when did you start Weight Watchers? I am on Day 2 and I have lost a pound. A lot of the weight I will lose at the beginning is just water weight but it definitely counts. If I follow my plan, I should lose between 10 and 15 lbs by Jan 25. We will see how it goes!
